Posted mine today. I decided to join in after all because I am grim...and dark. But not grimdark. :)

Interesting perspective in this one. Enjoyable read!

Thanks! I plan on reading the other entries this week. I've read one of them already and it's pretty damn good!

Although I've heard about "Grimdark" for some time, I truly didn't understand it.

After having read the discussion thread referenced above and done some more reading online, I'm still not sure I get it.  :D But my attempt is posted, and if anyone feels it isn't close to the mark or I've really missed something, let me know! I'm more of a light-hearted writer, typically, and this was a real challenge.

There's such a great selection. When voting starts it's going to be very difficult to choose whose story is my favourite. Other than my own, that is  ;D

But I'm being very serious when I say that I'm impressed with everyone's stories. You're all such great writers and it's so cool to have a piece in a contest alongside all of you.

I cannot wait to see if any others are added to the pot in these last few days.

I'll definitely have to check that out then. Is it just on the American store or is it also on the Canadian store?

@pornokitsch - I didn't think there'd be many laughs to be had in a theme like "Grimdark" but your entry had more than the previous three competitions added together (and there were some funny stories in there).  Loved it, even saw a bit of a message in there. LoL

Thanks!

Never taken part in the writing competitions before, although I've always enjoyed reading the entries. This might be the best month yet!

And there! Finally got a story finished in time. It's short, but any longer, and it wanted to turn into a longer short story set in a different genre (I am never going to get the hang of grimdark). It's also set in a 'verse I'm currently working on, and I hope you guys like. :)

Just about got mine in on time, although it was a little rushed as I wasn't going to write something this month as I've been busy in the racecaller forum in The Sun, with the Chelentham festival and the Grand National being just round the corner, but I think I managed to come up with the kind of thing that may suit Grimdark.

I could have done with an extra 2000 words to be honest, just hope it's worthy as the rest are very good - well done everyone.

I have also tried writting in a different dialect, which I have never done before, so not sure if it works or not, but I hope the ending reaches the darkness, which I was looking for.

 :)

Voted! ;D

That was a tough choice!  There were a lot of good stories this month, and picking just one was painful.

I know this has been suggested before, but for months with a lot of stories I'd rather vote for three or four that I think deserve recognition, not just one 'best' story.  It always seems to end up that my second-favourite story - the one I almost voted for - ends up with zero votes, which leaves me feeling ever so slightly guilty...
