I don’t know what to make of this but I’m finding it very readable. On page 50

The Humour not working for me through. Then again I’m quite hard to please with humour 😛

"I'm not sure what to make of this but very readable" was entirely my first impression also.

But I loved the humour, or at least The Voice in which it's written. Then again, it's heavily steeped in online colloquialisms of the past fifteen years, and that is something I enjoy a lot. I think it worked well for me as Gideon's voice because it gives her a very specific sort of swagger - carelessness hiding a genuine but fractured confidence, braided together with a whole lot of trauma and coping - that I associate with that sort of vocabulary/language style among people I know.

I just went to check what had happened up to "end of Act 1" and realised I've loaned the book to someone, which I am glad of because I enjoy spreading the love of this book (and its amazing cover) but also I'm distraught because I wanted to look and re-read bits and giggle...

Well I’m glad the cast of characters has gotten bigger , I don’t know if. I could just go through the book with the two main characters just bickering to each other.

Why does Harrowhark dislike Gideon so much is she somehow scared of her? , what makes Harrowhawk tick?

 The other Eight planet’s , I thought the ninth was the only planet that practiced necromancy. I thought the other eight did something else , I know the seventh try to delay or slow time  from the body I think which I found interesting.

All the shuttles vanishing from the planet hmm

Who thinks that all the candidates for the lyctor  be sacrificed to expand the king undying life span.

I found the initial setting a bit hard to decipher. I was not sure on who Gideon was, what she was doing in the house etc. It's like the author just drops you in deep end right at start.

Liked the naming conventions, Nona...for ninth, Triden...for three, It's a bit easier to keep track of.

Also the space shuttle and sword fighting felt a bit off. I'd expect them to have photon blasters or something to go with the tech era.
