JUNE: Track Marks

Track Marks by EyesofOdysyeus

The first theme is an image prompt. For those who don't know them, it's about writing a story inspired by a picture. For the sake of fantasy, we ignore that the track marks are made by car wheels. Every kind of wheel is allowed.

Love this image, very mysterious.

My first thought was a pair of people racing a pair of giant stone wheels through a desert....

I've got an image of a  bunch of orcs  dressed in frock coats and stove pipe hats arguing about building a railway. Serves me right for thinking about tracks when only half awake but I might see if I can wrassle it into a story.

Question, do we have to have wheel tracks specifically show up in our story?

I'm certainly using the desert/badlands setting from the picture, but at the moment the closest thing to something making tracks in my story is a pair of plateosaurus walking through the badlands with their adoptive human mother (and a whiny pteranodon they found out there).

I could give them a cart or something if need be. But given they're exploring the wilderness of the mountains in the image's background over traveling the cracked flatlands of the image's foreground in terms of setting, it doesn't feel like they'd bring a cart.

you made me laugh out loud with that scene, and imagining the dino with a cart ;D

You can not have tracks, but I feel that will mark you down in the voting...

Thanks. ;D

And I've been thinking more about it. With a little push here or there I can shift the story so they're either making their way towards the mountains or on their way home from an excursion into the wilderness. Given how few people in the setting go out into the badlands as deep as they go, saying they hid it somewhere while exploring the rougher terrain and such could work. With the cart acting as a kind of base camp to return to.
