Congrats to Jeryn and everyone who entered and thanks to everyone who voted. Maybe next month with even more entries will have even more voters.
I will expand your TBR pile.

Congratulations Jeryn!

And also to all the competitors. It was a long list of entries but also quite an even spread of votes with every story hitting a note with someone.

Congrats Jeryn! You deserved it. Really remarkable story. Remarkable month in fact, and I can see that from the -- how many stories got 6 or 7 votes a piece? Awesome month, awesome entries, and awesome number of people that voted.

But more than that, we have an awesome winner! Congrats again!

I won't pretend I'm not disappointed in my performance in this contest but I guess I'll just have to shape up and try harder in the future.

Congratulations Jeryn.

Well done Jeryn.  A well-deserved win in a very tricky (and briefly record-breaking in terms of entries) month.

Overall a very interesting contest this time around, reflected in how the votes spread out across everyone.

Congratulations Jeryn.

I voted for you this month!  ;)
I'm not a high fantasy fan but I liked the vibe and the overall point of view of your entry. I liked the general philosophy if you will, the idea that each concurring team has its interest and desires and targets, instead of a bad guy versus good guys and allies.
I found your writing quite good too, as I said I'm not a fan of high fantasy and the slightest clunkiness or heaviness in style can make me bail, so in my book finish your story and even voting for it, given its topic, is quite the compliment!  :P

But then again everything is suggestive!
I don't get at all how I got 6 votes on this month. I loved my concept but am not very proud of my hasty writing. i think I'll try to re-write it and shorten it drastically.

Henry Dale, I liked your story but something was lacking. I think the jurassic park reference was god, but the "other wordly" aspect of the park setting was overall extremely foggy, not allowing me to really get what was going on.
While the drake incident was cute, I figure the lawyer must have known those would be a thing no? He's supposed to know more about the park than any investor, he's their brain and decision maker, so he'd know about the local wildlife... So I figured, the same idea, but with the lawyer getting sort of lost, escaping drakes and dragons before being fished back after a few hours would have made for a slightly better story. As it is the manager's character was a tiny bit cartoony.
But I really liked the idea, it's the kind of short that would need big reworking but has quality laying just under the surface!

I did vote for your concept, @Nora, so you're right there. I rarely look at general writing style for these (after all, they're written in only a month's time), so as long as it's readable I'm fine. Ideas mean more for me.

Thanks for the review btw. I tried to keep the characters a bit cartoony yer (bit like jp), but you're right about the lawyer, he should've known. Might've been better if I had just said he knew about them, but never seen one and make him go 'oshit that thing is huuuge'. Oh well, maybe next time ^^ thanks again.

Thanks. I think it's important to keep in mind that no-one is actively out to be evil. Everyone feels justified in their own outlook.

Belated but sincere congratulations, Jeryn. I thoroughly enjoyed your story and your writing.  I was right there in the tavern and waiting with the rest for what would happen between your two main characters. Then that perfect ending. Well deserved win.

Thank you also to everyone else who wrote in this contest, it was a wonderful month and great stories altogether.
