[Jul 2019] - Employment - Voting Thread
« on: August 04, 2019, 08:31:51 AM »
It's time to vote on the July Writing Contest: "Employment"

This time we got 6 entries - thanks to all who participated.

Please read through all of the entries in the submission thread and place your votes for your two favourite entries in this thread. You won't be able to see the vote breakdown until the vote closes, so spread the word for others to come and vote! We do ask that if you entered, to vote for someone else.

The key for the numbers of votes is this: 1-5 entries: 1 vote, 5-10 entries: 2 votes, 11-15 entries: 3 votes, 16-19: 4 votes, 20-25: 5 votes, 26+: 6 votes

Remember that the winning entry will be posted on the main Fantasy-Faction site in a few months.

Good luck to all our entrants and thank you for taking the time to read the stories and vote! :)

I read all the entries and voted for my top two (which was a tough decision).

They're good shorts, everyone! Read them!

Voted. All nice stories, hard to pick two. Chose two, one which I instinctively liked and one which moved me.

Got 5 voters so far but only 9 votes.
I know some people sometimes only use 1 because they can't choose a second one, or don't like a second one enough, but if you just missed the fact we have 2 votes this month, feel free to add :)

Voted. Really enjoyed all these stories and hard to narrow down to two votes. None of them left me yearning for any of the jobs ;D. Thank you all.

I voted for you and @JMack.

I snuck in my votes at the last second: Brand and Bron  ;)
Congrats, @Brand J Alexander! A really nice story. I loved how it kept opening up into something wider and bigger.

Meanwhile, though it missed my vote by a hair, I also want to acknowledge “A day in the life”
And YDraig had good writing and an interesting setting, but it felt too abbreviated.
Muck suffered from some English grammar issues, but I still enjoyed it.

And I never figured that waterboys would attract as many votes as it did. It was written in complete pantsing mode, and “ended” (if you can call that an ending) when the word limit kicked in. Thanks, to those who liked it and voted for it.

First entry and directly a hit! :D No idea if this is a first, but it's certainly rare. :)

Thank you, everyone. Didn't expect that. I hadn't intended to write it because I had a busy month ahead of me. But the prompt triggered a story in my head that wouldn't let me go. I think I finally gave in and wrote it the day after I saw the post. It clearly wanted to be told.

Glad to know it caught more than just my attention. I definitely enjoyed reading through everyone's submissions and seeing how different minds can view the same prompt. It was fun.

Yeah, you've hit the nail on the head there. I wanted to show the normal person going about their day while the supernatural police have their adventures, but by the time I'd done the interview, I'd used up way too much space. Probably needed twice the word count to get what I wanted.  ;D

I didn't have time to read all the entries this month and completely forgot about voting until today.  :-[  What I have read is good though. Diverse and interesting as always.

Congrats @Brand J Alexander!

I'm stoked I got second place, I never know how well my mundane office-work experiences would translate to a fantastic setting.

Right! Congrats to your second place, which is impressive for a newcomer too!
