Title: [Jul/Aug 2017] - Story Generator - Voting Thread
Post by: ScarletBea on September 05, 2017, 09:56:36 AM
It's time to vote on the 'summer' (July+August) Writing Contest: Story Generator!

We got 6 entries this month - thanks to all who participated!

Please read through all of the entries in the submission thread and place your votes for your two favourite entries in this thread. You won't be able to see the vote breakdown until the vote closes, so spread the word for others to come and vote! We do ask that if you entered, to vote for someone else.

The key for the numbers of votes is this: 1-5 entries: 1 vote, 5-10 entries: 2 votes, 11-15 entries: 3 votes, 16-19: 4 votes, 20-25: 5 votes, 26+: 6 votes

Remember that the winning entry will be posted on the main Fantasy-Faction site in a few months.

Good luck to all our entrants and thank you for taking the time to read the stories and vote! :)

Haven't even started reading yet!  :-[  The month delay kind of wrecked the tempo/rythm of tasks, I'd almost forgotten this needs to be voted on even though it's only six stories.  :-\

Will do it soon, promise.

Voted!
I don't know if it was the short number, but I wish I could have voted for all, each story had its great points and approached the challenge in a different way :D

--> and the current votes sort of show that, being quite evenly spread (although one is taking the lead) - please vote to break the standstill!

8 votes in, which looks like only 4 people voted... seems to be the ones who said so (and they all agreed in one story ;D )

We need more votes!!!!

Has there ever been a tie at the end of voting before? I'd assume both/all the winners get posted.

I've "won" twice in tie, and was one of them three-way? January 15 Religion & December 15: Young Love

I think it was in Dec/15 that we had 3 winners.

Ah, that feeling when my own last minute vote loses me the contest....

Still, congrats anyway DeathShroud. Wouldn't have voted for you (and Bradley) if I didn't think it was a worthy winner.

Congratulations @DeathShroud a great win in a close competition. Loved your unusual tale set in Glastonbury and how you worked your random results in so smoothly, happy to give you a vote. Also a vote for you R_A God Emperor, firstly for boldly going where none have gone before and getting your story in early. but then having to wait two whole months.  Oh yes, also for a hilariously all-inclusive extravaganza.  ;D ;D

Hey! Congratulations, @DeathShroud
First ever entry, first win!

Thank you to one person who liked my story well enough.

And thank you to @Rukaio_Alter and @Bradley Darewood, for two good tall tales I voted for.

And talk about last minute changes in the votes :o It was very different yesterday morning!

I voted for @Rukaio_Alter and @Jmack :)
R_A, now I just want to create a new story generator with even more weird combinations and ask you to write a story with them all ;D ;D

Congrats my one vote for deathy won it for him. First time voted for ages , I voted for this story because it didn't feel like a story generator if that make sense.

I'm glad all the authors voted

Wow @DeathShroud congrats!!!!  Now that everyone mentions it, you did do such a seamless job of working the elements in that I didn't even notice they were there!

That said, I voted for @Rukaio_Alter who took the opposite approach, because I was really impressed that he was able to cram every single trope ever made into a single 1500 word story.

My very very favorite was @Carter 's tho, b/c HOLY SHIT IT WAS A CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE THATS THE COOLEST THING IVE EVER SEEN.

And talk about last minute changes in the votes :o It was very different yesterday morning!

Okay @ScarletBea now you've got us all wondering what the breakdown was yesterday morning!

I can't see who voted for whom, Bradley, I don't have that kind of power ???

My very very favorite was @Carter 's tho, b/c HOLY SHIT IT WAS A CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE THATS THE COOLEST THING IVE EVER SEEN.

Thanks Bradley, I'm glad someone liked it - ok two someones at least - as the thought to do one as been sitting in my head for a while and this gave me an opportunity to try it.  I originally intended it to be much more than this as well, with more choices, and a vague idea to have it read as a story even if you expanded the lot and just read it beginning to end.  Unfortunately after a couple of drafts I realised I needed significantly more words than the contest allows!  As I said in the preamble I was a bit too ambitious to pull all of that off.

I was writing the article that appears on the main site with this winning story and wondering if I had to go with DeathShroud as the name - until I clicked on the profile link and realised that you've now changed your name and you're @Jonathan Ryan :D

So you'll have that name on the site.

(and will you enter the contest again?)
