Did someone mention Steven Erikson?
And it's your 1111th post. Classy.

For some reason I was completely convinced it was Legend this month. Still very unsure about this series.  It sounds fun but TEN books?

I'm really looking forward to rereading this so that hopefully I can get a bit further on with the series than the middle of Book 2! Gariath - it's a monster series but the first book will make for one seriously interesting set of discussions (assuming there's participants).

Discussion Break Points:

Week 1: Prologue & Book One
Week 2: Book Two & Book Three
Week 3: Book Four & Book Five
Week 4: Finished

Happy new year everyone! Glad to be back with you all reading our way through the year. My goal is simple and it's to read every book we pick for 2014. I pretty much did every one since I started the book club half way through last year so I am confident I can do this.

I have already started this book, but it sits part read on my kindle so it will be good to pick it back up and get it finished. Let's get this ball rolling shall we? :)

Have been meaning to read this book for a long time. Got this book in 2012 and it has just kind of stared at me menacingly from the bookshelf, but when I found this bookclub it was the perfect time to start reading it.

(First post BTW, looking forward to the disscussions)

I don't think I would consider it grimdark. Did you decide that from reading? Or did you see it referred to as grimdark somewhere? These labels are never consistently used, so what is grimdark to some may not be to others.  :-\

I got about 4 hours in, and it came over all grim. And dark. Or maybe that was me LOL.

I've started again, and am now at almost exactly the same point I was at before, so I'll see how it goes.

Me too. I'm just slow. Nearly finished the week 2 part, though.

Yeah, that happened with Book of the New Sun. Only two of us actually finished. I think this one may have more finishers than that eventually. I think we had a number of people drop out of The Black Company as well.... And The Steel Remains.  :-\ But it is interesting to see the variance in reactions from readers to the same book.
