Hey folks.  :)

I'm real excited about this, and I just want to publicly thank Jmack for picking my book for the club.

(Though it looks like you hit Post a little prematurely, @Jmack)

So, just bought the book tonight. Just started chapter 2 (11% done), and really enjoying it. My wife had already yelled at me twice to put my phone down and stop ignoring the kids. :)

I will absolutely be jumping in, though probably not until next month. I have too much going on right now between editing, reading, and critiquing. But I am definitely in and hope to catch up with you guys in mid-March. :)

Yeah, let's go with that. :)  In other news, finished chapter 2. I've found one or two spelling mistakes (out instead of our, etc, which plague me as well, so I'm always on the lookout), but the writing is incredibly absorbing. The first two main characters are similar (aged, tactical and analytical minds, strong sense of duty), but there are a lot of details in your writing to make each feel individual and unique.  I want to keep reading about each of them, but an also anticipating the new POVs, so well done so far!

I'll just step in and say that I really enjoyed this book and I'm very excited to hear what all of you think :) I loved some stories more than others, but I'll be very interested to see if my thoughts align with others. I'll be sure to check in and comment as soon as others have gotten through it!

Nice work Eli :)

Started this the other day. I'm about half way through chapter 2. The first thing that leapt out at me was the strength of the characters. I'd read The Call a few months ago, and enjoyed the conflict, but found it difficult to relate to Katja. With Beren, I was hooked immediately, and impressed by the level of depth.

I am late to the party, thanks to having to finish up my own book in February/March and tons of other business, but I picked up the book today and will be reading through over the next few weeks. Looking forward to it!

Just finished Chapter 1. Overall, this was a really fun start to the book. I love the setting and was pretty much immediately hooked as Beren led the escape of the princess. We've already got space battles, ship-to-ship battles, and some interesting tactics, and it sets the stakes for the rest of the book nicely. Good stuff!
