The old- less Disney versions of fairy tales are definitely calling me.
I fancied twisting a Mabinogion tale- but it may be too obscure for some.

You might be surprised, I'd guess that most of us here know the Mabinogion if only bits and pieces (and probably the arthurian bits and pieces)

That’s awesome...
I mean if I took out the lists of names in each chapter, i’d Be down to 1500 words anyway😂.

But can I get an Ent in this month? That is the real challenge!

Got there in the end.

Must admit, I wasn't sure I'd manage this one, (the theme really didn't appeal for a while) and I'm not even sure my story is exactly what the topic is looking for; but the idea came and I ran with it :)

I wanted to write a story about Sauron being female and making everything pink and stuff. But I lost interest in it and will probably drop it. I really can't work with this months topic and hope next month will get anything else. It´s not the gender switch, I just really hate writing fanfiction.

It seems we're not going to get many stories this month, so we might keep the subject for another month....

No, it's not April, but I thought you deserved this :P ;D
New theme coming on Friday.

Aww, so no special extension for this short month? I can only make it if I can write during the weekend. Been pretty rough at work at the moment. Story only half done.

She didn't say that and I think we could do until Sunday to get a "normal" month (30-31 days). :)

I will still try to open the new contest tomorrow.
Depends a bit on the mood of my nine months old. He was vaccinated today and his mood is grotty.

Ah amazing! I projected my own thinking there.
I'm working on poor Cinder's story and really need to finish it, I've been so lazy! But I work 9h tomorrow so... weekend it is!

Sorry @ScarletBea I've had a nightmare weekend. Buying a new phone swallowed the whole two days, plus a fair bit of inescapable socialising (friend bday, work meeting....) and in the end I fell way behind on word count. Even got late to work today. I'm a mess. Forgot to message last night that I wasn't making it. Sorry  :'(

That's ok, I'm sorry you didn't manage. Maybe this month you'll restart writing :)

Need a voting thread  ;D

So I did have an idea for this, and it just didn’t get written.
Imagine that Captain Kirk experiences a transporter malfunction, and arrives... as a woman.  :o

I even found an episode that was perfect to rip off. Did you know there are transcripts of every Original Series episode available on the interwebs?

Ah well. I’m ready to vote for someone else’s story.

I was 3/4 done with a Puss in boots reversal. But an emergency tooth extraction last week has had me rocking quietly in a corner popping multiple painkillers between work, so it never got finished. I’m impressed I managed the normal day job. Turns out my liver is a bit too effective at breaking down painkillers and my root was a bit deep. 😂.

I’ll look forward to reading the entries that made it to voting!
