Anyway, my advice is just find something you think is fun and excites you and write that.

I think I might have found a pair of book titles I can smash together, so that's the angle I'll be working from.

Also, I now need to go back and find that Drake/Croft bust-up.

Ha, it's archived here. Enjoy. :)

I'm going to do more Sci-Fantasy. Ready Player One's OASIS setting on a fantasy planet with no technology and then drop in Mark Watney from the Martian.  Title - "He's so clever, he'll figure it out". ROFL

Tebakutis, perhaps some Halo/Mass Effect mash-up?

Fanfic.. Not really up my street as I usually don't like to think of other peoples characters.
I have some issues finding the boundaries here.

Let's say I wanna write a LOTR / TWOT crossover, can I write a story where Frodo is just setting out and Rand Al'Thor comes walking from a Tel'aran'rhiod dream and decides to help Frodo? He makes a gateway into the pit, frodo drops the ring, end. Theoretically speaking that would be allowed?

Is it allowed to use characters from fantasy games? Let's say the Warcraft characters?

@Roelor, given that I already don't follow or know the stories of 90% of what is discussed above, I think Warcraft is risky, since it's even more niche. But using the same reason as above, why not, since it'll make no difference between not recognizing a character from a game or from a book? *shrugs*

Ha, I like it, but I actually have a better idea that is closer to the rules. We'll see if it works or not. :)

I did it last year (game characters) and there are plenty of Warcraft novels out there, so it certainly counts (as far as I know). I think the only downside is many people who don't play WoW may not know the character, so won't be able to tell if you've captured them well or not.

But since it also applies to most of the books people are talking about using... Why not? I played a some mass effect (3, I think) and had to sell my ps3 when I was maybe 4h into the game, so your story wouldn't get any more bonus points  :D

True! But once I came up with my alternate book idea, I liked it so much I decided it was the one I want to go with. It seems hilarious in concept, but we'll see if I can actually pull it off.

Go! Good luck! It's not a month for being too serious anyway.

Are you serious? That's it, I'm never voting for you again.
