[Feb 2016] - Fanfic - Voting Thread
« on: March 03, 2016, 08:47:40 AM »
It's time to vote on February's Writing Contest: Fanfic

We got 13 entries this month, including a few newbies - we love that!
Thanks to all of you for participating!

Please read through all of the entries in the submission thread and place your votes for your three favourite entries in this thread. You won't be able to see the vote breakdown until the vote closes, so spread the word for others to come and vote! We do ask that if you entered, to vote for someone else.

The key for the numbers of votes is this: 1-5 entries: 1 vote, 5-10 entries: 2 votes, 11-15 entries: 3 votes, 16-19: 4 votes, 20-25: 5 votes, 26+: 6 votes

Remember that the winning entry will be posted on the main Fantasy-Faction site in a few months.

Good luck to all our entrants and thank you for taking the time to read the stories and vote! :)

Voted. I don't really care for the concept much but still there were some great stories. Third vote was a hard decision to make.

Voted. Very hard theme, not Fanfic itself but having battle. Difficult to recognise subtleties in character and references if you don't know characters well enough. With that in mind, three stood out for me, though thanks to everyone for an entertaining read.
I imagine arguments being swallowed back, wine spit in glasses and gurgling up bottles. I imagine my ring sliding off my finger, Bobby's lips hot on mine for the first time again, and then unknown to me.

Good lord mine is...so so silly. Sadly silly :P

It did make me laugh seeing how long the title was in that vote list at the top though, so it was worth it just for that imo.

Silly is good, it's fun and fun is the best sort of vibe if you're not sure of the chances of your story! :-p
I'm pretty disappointed in mine honestly. I'd written things out to include a fuel with Aragorn, and the finale was meant to be against Victor from Vicious. It ought to have been a good 3k if I had let myself do what I wanted, so the story as it is feels half baked.
But this month is making up for it.

well...mine was pretty much useless in the first place, and a poor attempt at poetry. But I notice the format didn't exactly come through and the whole thing looks a bit mushed together.

Voted.

Wow. Of thirteen stories:
> One was mine. Didn't vote for it.  8)
> All submissions had stuff to like. (Not counting mine)
> Two will get honorable mentions for sheer ballsy nonconformity.
> A bunch were good, but IMO five were really good. (Still not counting mine.)

I figured out my top two quickly.
Took a good while figuring out number 3.

Decided to vote earlier this time, in case I forgot - again  :-[

Two stories really stood out for me - one for its creativity, the other for making me feel like I was actually reading something written by the author that inspired the story. Haven't really decided on the third vote, though.

Also, lots of Conan this month!  ;D

Voted as well. Not my favourite month, but I really loved my top one story, despite not having read the books they were inspired from.

Also felt a bit left off, since I've never read a Conan book!  :P

for shame!!

they're so very extremely better than the movies.  conan is a complete, well-rounded badass with attitude, not just some gladiator turned loose on society.

this is a great little flavor burst:

p.s.  and, yes, i have some 80-odd savage swords and a half-dozen books.  not that i obsess or anything.

I have 2 certain votes, but then 6 candidates for vote 3: how can I choose?
I went for gut feeling...

With a week to go, we have got 2 stories tied in first place, and just 1 point behind them, another 2 stories tied in second place.
Not that many votes either - PLEASE VOTE!!!!
