Just noticed I skipped past the 2nd thread. Am now on Ch. 35.

There's lot of minor stuff happening. Main characters interacting, moving on about locations, places getting together...but I still don't get a sense of macro plot. What is Warrick afraid of? Why is now the right time to be doing what he's doing now? What happened before the barrier was in place and what lies outside it? Half the book done and I'm still waiting for some light on this.

Can't get a sense of magic system. Weavers seem to be the only named class and they can manipulate fate.

- Apart from Warrick, Nadia & Markus are reputed to be weavers.
.......Warrick has fire ability, which Nadia and Markus haven't. He can delegate this via Imperial Guard seal.
.......Markus also has healing ability, which Nadia doesn't. Not sure if Warrick has this.
.......Warrick can sustain the barrier, but Markus cannot break it.

Perhaps Nadia and Markus are still undeveloped and haven't realized full potential?

- Rik, Anders & Klint seems to be a different class of mage who can use a staff.
.......What class are they and what abilities do they have?
.......Is staff an artifact? It's used for fighting and has fire and lightning damage. Also used to power sails in a smugglers boat.

- There are some teleportation places, which Imperial Guards can use, but not sure how that's powered or works.

Given that the books is half finished, I have more questions than answers. Cracking on with the read to see how the plot goes.
"I shall hunt your firstborn children and laugh with glee as I tell them of your death in terrible detail, with many unpleasant adjectives!" - M-Bot

"Who needs science when you have a dragon?" - Neil DeGrasse Tyson in Sharknado 6

Death speaker, interesting quite a powerful ability to have

So is Warrick lining up Marcus and Nadia as his Heirs To fight the bigger evil then him.

Not sure where Berig fits in all of this.

Is the old world earth? Technology destroyed the old world.

Chasing windmills odd phrase.

Shadowlands  hmmm
