Bravo alex! Great story this month! But with only two votes, in the end I gave mine to @NightWrite and @RobertS.
Very creative bunch of stories that put my dead-on-arrival one to shame.

Congrats Alex! I voted for Robert & Jmack.
I'm actually surprised my attempt at epic narration got any votes at all  ???

Oh, so it was on purpose? I remember writing in my notes that there was a lot of telling instead of showing, hehe

Yeah, it's a departure from the standard, and I actually like this sort of thing when the scope of the subject matter is broad enough and instead of individual characters, whole kingdoms/peoples are the actors. But like the Silmarillion, which features a lot of this "biblical" scale material, it's not for everyone. Or rather, it's only for a select few who have a taste for it. I liked the practice because writing at this level is very difficult and different from the standard approaches that support "live" character portrayals.

That does sound interesting, and I liked it 'as described', although when then compared to the other stories, it jarred a bit.

Funny that you did this "departure from the standard" in Dec: have you seen the Feb theme? ;)

The Writing Contest and life in general both have a flair for ... irony.

It's just a few words to remind me of the story when it's time to vote.

If you want yours, it was "nice idea, but it needs more development" - sorry :-\
