Ugh, totally didn't find time this month between freelancing, my job, working on my novel and those damned holidays. I'm so bummed out I missed on this submission, as I had a flurry of ideas and just never got them on the page! :(

But I'm stoked for next month's topic of Urban Fantasy, and even more excited to read all of yours.  ;D Good luck all!!!

It's already the 2nd...
But, parties and all, ok, I'm feeling nice - @Lordoftheword, if you think you can do it in one day, I'll also keep it open for you ;D

Thanks @ScarletBea! But I won't be able to send something in by the end of the day. Nothing that I can be proud of anyway haha ^^

On request I submitted a minor revision. Someone suggested the Anne McCaffrey ref was distracting or something. Not a huge difference.

No yanking of levers? No stomping on footpedals or clicking knobs and dials into the red? No pause while steam pressure builds or louvers are cranked to their open and locked position? Why, that's no fun at all. You don't even have to wear brass-rimmed goggles of camel-leather or wide-cuffed gloves? Sort of ... sad, really. The new versions up already.

well.  technically, there're a few chains, pulleys, and gears.  but, the waterwheel actually does most of the work.  that, and my army of indigenous ferrets.

new version should be posted!

Is there gonna be a critique thread? Or is that after voting?
