Who wants to join us with our group read of:

Sam Syke's 'Tome of the Undergates'

BOOK NAME: Tome of the Undergates
AUTHOR: Sam Sykes
FORMATT: Paperback / Ebook

‘The name never uttered without scorn, they are long loathed for their knowledge of nothing beyond violence and greed and their utter disregard for human life, least of all their own.

And Lenk, a young man with a sword in his hand and a voice in his head, counts them as his closest company.

Charged with retrieving the Tome of the Undergates, a written key to a world long forgotten by mankind and home to creatures determined to return, Lenk is sent after ancient evangelical demons, psychotic warrior women and abominations lost to myth. Against them, he has but two weapons: a piece of steel and five companions as eager to kill each other as they are to help him.

I've both read and re-read Tome already, but I'll definitely take part in the conversation. And do my best not to spoil anything.

Spoiler for Hiden:
EVERYONE DIES.

Yay!  I just got my copy yesterday!  Wait, what day is this?  Maybe it was the day before...  Don't mind me, my caffeine hasn't quite kicked in yet. :P  Anyway, I'm in! ;D

I'm in for this. It is not what I voted for, or a book that I would usually buy, but that is the whole point of a book club I suppose. Expand the horizons a bit and all that.

Plus, Sam Sykes seems like a great guy from what I have seen on Twitter, so I am more than happy to send him some of my money  :)

In terms of dividing the book up for threads I had a look and it works out if you divide into 4 quarters as follows: week 1 chapters 1 to 6, week 2 chapters 7 to 14, week 3 chapters 15 to 24, week 4 24 until end. :-D

I am most definitely up for this one. I accidentally left quite a gap between Tome and Black Halo, rereading Tome would be beneficial  ;D

I can't decide on whether to join in this month or not.  I've looked a couple of times at the reviews on Goodreads/Amazon and I'm not convinced I'll like this one.  How does it compare to say Abercrombie (who I like) but Lynch's second book, which I wasn't so keen on?

I'll be joining, I've had the book for a while and this will give me a good excuse to read it.

It isn't really like either one :)

If I had to take a stab at it, Tome is closer to Abercrombie in terms of grittiness and humour (it really isn't like either of the Lynch at all). The best judge would be to read the interview with SS, really. In terms of distinctive personality, sense of humor, attitude, etc...
