UGGGGGGHHHH my story for Rebirth/Renewal was Dr. Who fanfic. It didn't get done in time so  I thought I could use it for this coming month but you're no longer doing Fanfic February.

There goes another story down the drain.

I just posted it in next month's discussion thread.

Ayyy let's vote! I'll read everything and vote this weekend so I can have it out of the way. I'm also going to make efforts to finish my story asap this month. I don't want a rushed last minute again. It's not satisfaying.

When posting @Nora's story off the front page, I realized I'd forgotten to post @Alex Hormann 's win from December. Both are now on the Twitters!

I am very impressed with the entries this time. Some very well-written tales and just solid stuff. I mean, we always have good entries, but this month's happen to suit my tastes particularly well.

I agree! The previous batch of short stories I read was Stephen King's Bazaar of Bad Dreams, and I couldn't tell you the last time I wrote a short story. It's really quite amazing how much story, depth, and characterization one can fit into 1500 words. These were no exception, and some of them will be stuck in my brain for a while. I can't wait to ready February's stories!

The one thing humans of our age get wrong in their stories is that the apex predators are not the mythical vampires or werewolves, but witches. Lionel may only be a witch's son, but the second rung on the ladder of power isn't a meagre birthright.

@Nora did you intentionally sneak in a wall break here or is it just that I read it that way? Whichever I enjoyed it.  ;)
'..all tapes left in a car for more than a fortnight metamorphose into Best of Queen albums....they listened to William Byrd's "We Are the Champions"" and Beethoven's "I Want to Break Free". Neither were as good as Vaughan Williams "Fat-Bottomed Girls".

Sort of. Initially the opening paragraph was a lot more like a narrator telling you a story. Very external third person. I had to edit a lot out of that month, and made the narrator more blend. This is the biggest remaining sign of that.
