August Book Club! Who's reading?
« on: July 30, 2016, 11:38:42 AM »
Good morning. I'm a little late getting started, but the August selection - as voted on previously - is Swords and Scoundrels by our own @Francis Knight, writing as Julia Knight. I'll get the section threads up over the next few days.

Meanwhile, I'll be on vacation, and Swords sounds like the perfect book for escape from reality!  ;D

I will be reading, though I'll likely lag behind for the first week or two. I'm still in the process of unburying myself based on all the stuff I worked on in July, and I have been really bad about getting critiques to my writer's group folks at a reasonable time. So I'll likely do those, then try to get another 30k words done on Bloodmender, and then catch up to everyone mid-month on Swords and Scoundrels.

Absolutely looking forward to reading it, though!

Just bought the book and read the first chapter. So far, I'm liking this a lot. We'll see how much I can get through with everything else going on.

Julia's having some hard stuff going on in her life and she's been away from the forum for a while.
However, I see that she still tweets sometimes.

Can I suggest that one of you guys that's on twitter send her a message about this? She'll appreciate it, and it might also convince her to come over once in a while.

Her handle is @Knight_Julia (Jedi Knight)

 :)

(btw, the books are fab, I've read the whole trilogy!)

Done! I sent her a tweet, so assuming I don't come across as some sort of odd stalker person, hopefully she'll be aware we're reading her book this month. :)

EDIT: She said she'd try to stop by, but things are still a bit hectic.

Not at all stalkery! :) I'll try to stop by every now and again.

And thanks Scarlet! That's always nice to hear!

I will get this, but I think I will also lag behind a week or two.

Er, I meant to make a belated entry into this, but the book's Amazon kindle page lists it as unavailable for purchase. But the sequels ARE available. What gives here?

I think you just create an account there. For example, I know I have an amazon.uk account, but not a US one.

Do you use the american Amazon?

I just checked the UK one and it looks available:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Swords-Scoundrels-Duellists-Book-Trilogy-ebook/dp/B00WR70G6W/ref=tmm_kin_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1471251931&sr=8-1

Er, yes. How do I buy from the UK site?

Eli, I have an account with both and use the same username and password for both. Also they both give me a choice to pay in AU$. Never had a problem, although the US one is more expensive for p&p
