oh.  well.  that's interesting.

a friend of mine just read my potion story -- the kidnapped little girl who goes all cthulhu on the situation -- and said "hey, did you know stephen king already did a short story like that?"

cut to me, all like, "what?!"

apparently, great minds think alike.
There was a story I thought that King or someone wrote that had a girl turn into a tentacle creature, but maybe I'm just getting old. The one in the link seems related to that story about the town that's under siege by demonic forces until they "give him what he wants", which is a boy whom the bad guy takes and raises...

Having just read it confess I much prefer @m3mnoch story. This one meandered off into too much explanation about gambling addiction for me.  ;)
