No, actually, Alexander, Penelope and the squirrels are very much on my mind...
unfortunately, not in too much writing... yet.

Happens a lot I think.

Write all your ideas down, then save it somewhere for later and go back to your other project(s). Forge that Iron Will!

Yeah. Problem is when an idea catches my interest it will be the only thing on my mind for about a week or more. But since I haven't fully formed the idea, or outlined much of it, I spend that week thinking and not doing.

Been there. Still there.

One of the hardest things to deal with, really. I've had my wip on my mind for a long time, and I find myself migrating to other ideas often. Especially little nuggets of ideas.

These writing contests test me, as I try to come up with ideas for that while continuing to put work elsewhere. But it's good practice.

It's hard to tell yourself "I won't think about any other ideas between the hours of X and X, only my wip!"

1,659 words in first draft.

It is so RELAXING! to have this much done this far before the deadline.

ooooh!  i've got the rough outline of a story!  let's see if i can keep it under 1500 words.

especially since i just realized how hard that will be with this dystopia thing.  you need room to lay out the worldbuilding AND the characters AND the plot.  'cause i can't really shortcut the various aspects with common tropes and/or partial worldbuilding because the theme IS the world.

*whew*

good luck everyone.

I've got almost 900 words of what I feel could be a very intriguing story if I could just write it properly, right now what I have is decent bits strewn about in a sea of poor dialogue.

I do have to say that I'm absolutely loving the theme this month   :D

Missed submitting on my bday, but this is close enough!  :P
Can't believe I'm second on the 11th. I guess everyone is polishing their work still, it's a tough topic.

Really liked it once I found a good subject, but I completely overdosed on Ghost in the Shell's OST. Made me feel good, as I spent 5 hours today sitting down re-writting and polishing. Filled my quota for the day, time to go out and soak the last rays of sun.

Hmm. Does squirrels fighting goats count as a utopia, or a dystopia? I'm really not sure.

If you're writing about an animal kingdom Redwall-type, that could totally count as dystopia and valid entry - don't forget though, goats=evil ones (unless they're cute babies) ;D
Squirrels are the rebels, fighting Atku and his minions 8)
