Epic Fantasy Dream Team do a panel together

When I was younger I’d spend hours talking with friends about football, usually we’d discuss which players should form a team together and take on the world: Fantasy Football, I think it’s a thing now. I wanted David Beckham, Steven Gerrard, Freddie Ljungberg and Frank Lampard all playing together in my midfield (sorry, I do realise that if you are in the US that means very little… I’d try to do a basketball example, but beyond Michael Jordan I’m stuck for names!). Well, anyway, the reason I bring up my childhood fantasies (er…) is that at this weekend’s San Diego Comic-Con some genius organiser somewhere decided they’d put together a panel that can only be described as an ‘Epic Fantasy Dream Team‘.

Brent Weeks heads up the panel which includes Django Wexler, Sam Sykes, Joe Abercrombie, Robin Hobb, Morgan Rhodes, Raymond E. Feist, and Patrick Rothfuss who discuss ‘traditions in epic fantasy’ and a big part of the panel is the authors discussing the influence on these traditions by authors such as George R.R. Martin. I don’t think you’d find a better moderator than Brent Weeks who keeps the whole thing lighthearted and enjoyable. 50 minutes shoots by!

Thank you to writer and blogger extraordinaire Shawn Speakman for the video.

  1. Thanks much for linking this. It keeps flying by on Twitter but I’ll not have time to watch until the weekend.

It’ll be easy to find right here. 😉
