Announcements – Coming Soon!

Fantasy-Faction.com has been increasingly popular these last few months. Loyal fantasy fans seem to be flocking to our community and enjoying the interaction with other fans, the articles, the reviews and the interviews on the main site.

As a result we’ve had some fantastic opportunities come our way. We’ve met Brandon Sanderson and China Miéville IN PERSON, we’ve spoken to author’s such as Douglas Hulick, Mark Lawrence, Sam Sykes, Scott Lynch, Joe Abercrombie, Peter V. Brett, Jon Courtenay Grimwood, Mira Grant (Seanan McGuire), Guy Gavriel Kay, Rowenna Cory Daniels and besides that – are in the process of interviewing even more who I cannot name just now!

It has been a crazy, crazy time, but we want to keep things getting better and better and that’s why we have big, big plans for the faction. We want Fantasy-Faction.com to become the go to place for fantasy and we are willing to work for that.

Here is what you can expect over the next few months:

A Fantasy-Faction Podcast

That’s right, Fantasy-Faction is going audio! We are looking to hit your iPods by putting our soon to materialise podcast up on iTunes. The podcast is going to feature Marc Aplin and Paul Wiseall as our hosts and as much as you can expect interesting genre related discussion, you can also expect amusement and entertainment. Unlike any other podcast available for fantasy right now, Marc & Paul want to take a light-hearted approach to the genre and have you laughing at least five times during their twenty minute show. In fact, if you aren’t nervous about listening to the next show in public, they will consider their mission a failure. Each week they will be discussing:

– articles on Fantasy-Faction.com
– our monthly writing competition
– the book club
– analysis of what they are currently reading
– discussions on a set genre topic
– the latest genre related news

If you have any other suggestions of things you’d like to see…. erm… hear on the podcast, please leave your thoughts in the comments section!

A Fantasy-Faction YouTube

Fantasy-Faction.com is looking to launch their video channel properly before Christmas. Right now the YouTube channel has had around 5000 hits – mainly because of the Brandon Sanderson interviews. But expect more soon! We want two minute reviews, videos from conventions and of course more video interviews with top authors.

The Fantasy-Faction Anthology

We here at Fantasy-Faction have some talented, talented writers – both article writers and fiction writers. It is our hope that later this year we will be able to reveal plans on how we can get these people published. To give you a little taster for what we have in mind, we want each year to print a 200-300 page anthology with genre related articles, writing related articles and short stories by fantasy critics and authors. We hope to attract some of the rising stars in fantasy as well as our regular contributors – so keep an eye on that!

More of the Same…But Organised

Well, Fantasy-Faction exploded in popularity… literally! Our hosts were calling us up telling us we had killed our servers on two occasions! The result has been that the site outgrew itself basically and we needed to call in help. Essentially Marc Aplin and Paul Wiseall will be running the site and creating the majority of content with the ever creative, energetic and inspired Jennie (Autumn2May) working with us as assistant editor.

What this means is that things will be more regular and more organised. We are going to work really, really hard on the staff calendar this time around and make sure everything is up online and on-time. We will also be having weekly news features summarising what is going on across the genre.

Want to be a part of it?

With the new site we do have a couple more writing positions available. If you would like to write for Fantasy-Faction just sent an email to: staff@Fantasy-Faction.com and let us know why you want to write for us and what kind of thing you’d be interested in writing: News, Reviews, Articles and anything else.

We look forward to bringing something even bigger and better to the community!

  3. Hi guys

Your plans for the site sound fantastic.

If you want a fantasy (and science fiction) author to interview, then I would be happy to join you on your podcast.

    Best wishes and good luck,

  4. It’s been a pleasure to be a part of this budding website, and I can’t wait to see these changes take place.

Thank you all who’ve been a part of helping this site become what it is, and thank you Marc for establishing this site!

  5. And once again you take things up a few notches! You guys are such an inspiration and it’s an honour to be working with you. The genre as a whole can only gain from all your efforts and that is something you should be very proud of.

I can’t wait to see these plans in action and do shout if I can do anything to help!

  6. WOW!, that’s all that came to my head when I read this. I’ve only join this amazing community for two days but I can already see that all the community cares about is each other. This is the best haven for anyone who truly loves fantasy. And it is truly always active!
