Lost Boy by Christina Henry – Cover Reveal & Extract!

Alice (cover)If you’ve been keeping up with the recent retellings of Alice in Wonderland by Christina Henry, you will surely be excited to hear that she is set to release a new version of Peter Pan. For those who haven’t picked up Alice or its sequel The Red Queen yet, much of the story matches the original (the same white rabbit leads Alice on her journey, for example), but it’s a trip that’s far darker and far more disturbing than Carroll’s original tales. It’s filled with examples of violence, menace, exploitation, and abuse; and yet there’s a compulsive, edge of your seat story that is full of imagination.

Lost Boy promises to be more of the same darker shade of fairy tale. Here’s the official blurb to give you an idea of what’s in store:

There is one version of my story that everyone knows. And then there is the truth.

Once I loved a boy called Peter Pan.

Peter brought me to his island because there were no rules and no grownups to make us mind. He brought boys from the Other Place to join in the fun, but Peter’s idea of fun is sharper than a pirate’s sword. He wants always to be that shining sun that we all revolve around. He’ll do anything to be that sun. Peter promised we would all be young and happy forever. Peter will say I’m a villain, that I wronged him, that I never was his friend.

Peter LIES.

Sounds amazing right? We thought so too. And since the UK cover for Alice was incredible, when we were offered the cover reveal for Lost Boy we jumped at the chance. Here it is!

Lost Boy (UK cover)

Just like Alice: perfect, right? It has that same abstract style which is so well suited for a novel that’s equal parts dark, strange, and imaginative.

And as if that’s not enough, we’ve got a short extract for you, just so you can see exactly why this novel is your thing! Give this a read:

  1. This might be the first time in my life an except has ever made me want to buy a book. Also, that cover is gorgeous. Cheers!

  2. Wow! What a cover. It seems to tell a story of its own. Can you put links to her books Alice and Red Queen here? Of course we can look them up, but since the Internet really IS about falling down the rabbit hole of clicking links, it would possibly help the author a bit to put them right here where a light is being shone on her titles. Since we’ve until July to wait on this one, Alice is a good bet for those who haven’t read her work yet. Toodles…got to go get a book!
