Today we are lucky enough to be hosting the cover reveal for Michael R. Miller’s next novel, Veiled Intentions, second book in The Dragon’s Blade series. If the author’s name and series title sounds familiar to you, there is a good reason.

The first book in Miller’s series, The Reborn King, is was the winner of this year’s Self-Published Fantasy Blog-Off Cover Contest. It won both the popular vote and the judges’ choice. And with good reason. It is a beautiful cover!

The Reborn King (cover)

This cover was conceived by Miller’s mother and realized by artist Rachel Lawston. You can read about how it was created on the author’s blog. Lawston also created the cover for book two, which we will be revealing below.

But before we get to the art, let’s take a look at the book blurb to get an idea of what this story is about.

Rectar always had his sights set on conquering the human lands. His demonic invasion of the west is gaining momentum – an unrelenting horde unhindered by food or sleep. Now, only the undermanned Splintering Isles lie between the demons and the human kingdom of Brevia. If the islands fall, the rest of Tenalp will soon follow.

The Three Races must work together if they are to survive, but they have another problem – Castallan. The traitorous wizard has raised a deadly rebellion and declared himself King of Humans. He believes himself safe in the bowels of his impenetrable Bastion fortress, but Darnuir, now King of Dragons, intends to break those walls at all cost.

To face these threats, all dragons, humans and fairies must truly unite; yet old prejudices may undermine Darnuir’s efforts once again. And as the true intentions of all are revealed, so too is a secret that may change the entire world.

Sound exciting? Well wait to till you see the cover!

Veiled Intentions (cover)

Stunning isn’t it? While the first book was highlighted in the red and gold of flames, this cover takes a more subdued approach with softer blues and greens. They simultaneously give the appearance of crashing waves, wild vines, and dark magic. When placed alongside the elegant stone tower, they make the perfect backdrop for a war with an evil necromancer.

Veiled Intentions is due out February 10, 2017. While you are waiting for its release you can grab a copy of book one, The Reborn King, for £1 on Miller’s website by signing up for his mailing list.
