‘Lords of the Fallen’ gets an even better trailer!

We talk a lot about the ‘Grim’ and ‘Gritty’ trends in fantasy novels right now, but those who play video games have undoubtedly noticed that this trend has carried over to that medium too.

For those who don’t know, Lords of the Fallen is a dark and mysterious fantasy RPG due for release this October. Details of the game’s storyline are being released slowly, but essentially players will take control of Harkyn, a convicted outcast from society who suddenly becomes humanity’s best hope of defeating a demonic invasion.

The latest trailer gives us a look at the world the game is set that could easily be home to a story by some of our favourite Grimdark authors, check it out:

We don’t see much gameplay, sadly, but those who have had chance to bash a couple of buttons in a 15 minute E3 demo have said that the game is a Dark Souls / Darksiders hybrid – both dark and atmospheric games with a hack and slash style of gameplay. Fans of Demon Souls, Dark Souls and Dark Souls II are relying on this game to tide them over until the release of the next game in those series… lets hope it doesn’t disappoint!

  1. I think this world trailer shows very good world from game. I know I don’t play on this game jet but in all gameplays it looks similar. I’m very excited hearing this story. For me this game will be very good and I hope we don’t disappointed.

  2. Definitely a great trailer. Finally unveiled for us the world in which we will move. :). Only envy those who have had contact with the LoF. Even if it’s just a demo .;). Well, I still have to wait a moment. 🙂

  3. I have too agree. The “Grim” and “Gritty” setting are becoming more and more popular, but most of the time they are not so well done. It seams developers of Lords of the Fallen are implementing that atmosphere with much success. Can’t wait till end of october for release.
