Originally published by Alex Davis on The Gemmell Awards Website

Evening all,

Well, while I couldn’t make the ceremony myself, I’m delighted to be able to announce the winners in each of the three categories of this year’s David Gemmell Awards for Fantasy. A truly international list, and some absolutely world-class talent on the winners list. Congrats to all those who took the prizes home, and also to all the nominees for making the shortlist.

So, drumroll please…

2013 RAVENHEART AWARD FOR BEST FANTASY COVER ART
Didier Graffet and Dave Senior for the cover of Red Country by Joe Abercrombie (Gollancz)

2013 MORNINGSTAR AWARD FOR BEST FANTASY DEBUT
John Gwynne for Malice (Pan MacMillan)

2013 LEGEND AWARD FOR BEST FANTASY NOVEL
Brent Weeks for The Blinding Knife (Orbit)

We look forward to Brent smiting down his enemies with the mighty snaga in the near future. Just to add a big thanks to all of those who attended the ceremony, and for everyone who has offered such great support to the Awards throughout the year.

Roll on 2014!
